Beauty Queens was a book that reminded me of
myself. The plot was about a bunch of pageant
queens going to a pageant when suddenly their plane crashed on a remote island.
The group of teenagers then had to figure out a way to survive on their own
without running water, no food at your service, and especially no makeup or
hair dryers. It reminded me of
myself in the way that when I went on explore, I felt like I was on a lost
island however I did have food and water but no makeup. That made me freak out
the most.
Beauty Queens is a farce and comedy
of ideas, mostly farce. The book was farce in the way that their plane crashed
was a total mistiming and they lost their identities because of this plane
crash accident. The girls have to forget about the fact that they have no makeup,
they have to fight for survival. The comedy ideas would be that the characters
fight over who should stay or who should go hunt food, or who should stop sun
tanning and help.
Being addicted to looking good,
using makeup, showering, blow-drying your hair, is a bad thing to be addicted
to on a lost island with no electricity, and no beauty supplies. Beauty Queens
is funny in this way because it is so true. It has become a major thing to
teenagers now days, looking good. It is what I would call “The Funny Truth”.
Beauty Queens was a true laugh
out loud comedy book. I really enjoyed it.
I loved how I could relate the book to myself in the fact that I am so much
like these girls by how I always have to look my best, even on a remote island.
